As a contribution to the reflection on the climate change and the fate of glaciers, Bard Fort, Valle d’Aosta launched The Adieu des Glaciers project, starting 2020 until 2023.
This is the first chapter of the L'Adieu des glaciers photographic and scientific research project, produced by the Forte di Bard. This publication offers an iconographic and scientific journey among the glacier of the Monte Rosa.
The glacial identity of Monte Rosa is presented through a corpus of one hundred unpublished photographs depicting natural and anthropized environments, historical-cultural contexts and associations, scientific undertakings.
The project makes use of works by authoritative authors and selected photographs taken over the last 150 years and offers the opportunity to appreciate the material-photographic quality of both historical and contemporary prints, the result of specific procedures, instruments and materials implemented in high valleys that arise from Monte Rosa.
The contribution of scientific contents was conducted in collaboration with the Italian Glaciological Committee, the Control Room of the Aosta Valley Glaciers, the Montagna Sicura Foundation, the Arpa Valle d'Aosta, the Scientific and Technological Archive of the University of Turin (Astut), the Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences (Disafa) of the University of Turin, the Interdepartmental Center on natural risks in mountain and hilly environments, the Department of Neurosciences of the University of Turin.
