Publisher Note

This first-time collaboration between Icelandic artists Katrín Elvarsdóttir and Matthías M.D. Hemstock combines Katrín's haunting photographs of Iceland's lesser-known ominous countryside and Matthías' spectral yet tangible soundscapes.

Katrín's camera brings us a strong sense of the lives of those long forgotten - of places haunted by history. Icelandic folklore seems to emanate from abandoned buildings and cottages. Traveling to many of these same places, Matthías uses audio recordings of the desolate surroundings as a starting point for the tracks included on the CD. Together the work of these two artists captures atmospheres from another time and brings them within our reach.

The work is introduced by a passage from Icelandic writer Bragi Ólafsson.
