This limited edition includes a 500-piece puzzle featuring one of two available motifs from 5-channel video work Learning to Die – Life in 5 Acts, together with the artist book Learning to Die.

Motif A shows a close-up of a cracked egg from the first act (“Exposition - Hello World”). The scene thematises fragility and the beginning of a process.

Motif B is from the third act (“Peripetie — Awakening”) and shows an aperture in a cave into which a spherical stone has been grafted.

Both the motif of the egg and that of the cave play a role not only in these acts, but also appear throughout Anna Gohmert's oeuvre as a metaphor for shelters and transitions.

The artist's book complements the edition with contributions that deal with mortality, mourning, end-of-life care and bucket lists. Together, the puzzle and book open up access to questions about the (passage of) time, change and finiteness.

Motiv A zeigt ein aufgeschlagenes Ei in Nahaufnahme aus dem ersten Akt („Exposition - Hallo Welt“). Die Szene thematisiert Fragilität und den Beginn eines Prozesses.

Motiv B stammt aus dem dritten Akt („Peripetie - Aufwachen") und zeigt eine Öffnung in einer Höhle, in die ein kugeliger Stein gepfropft wurde.

Sowohl das Motiv des Eis als auch das der Höhle spielt nicht nur in diesen Akten eine Rolle, sondern taucht im Gesamtwerk der Künstlerin Anna Gohmert als Metapher für Schutzräume und Übergänge auf.
