This publication is the record of a conversation entitled “Treffen für Übersetzung” (Meeting for Translation) that took place in Daniela Keiser’s studio on April 8, 2017. During this meeting, five translators, an author, a cultural scientist, a book designer and publisher, and the artist shared their experiences in working on texts and discussed questions on the subject of translation.
Language and translation play an important role in Daniela Keiser’s work. Over the years, a large number of translation works have been created, which the artist summarizes under the term “In and Out of Translation”. Simultaneously with the present conversation, volume eight of the paperback series fink twice will be published under this title. For the first time, it brings together texts and materials from numerous groups of works by Daniela Keiser that deal with the subject of translation. Different works addressed in this conversation are also found in the reprint, so that the volume is recommended to the readers of this conversation as illustrative material, and vice-versa, this conversation volume as an exploration for reading the original texts and materials.
