Publisher Note

When various reports repeatedly took photographer Markus Bühler into the forests, he began to photographically capture their calming atmosphere, their beauty and the small and large cycles of life. Gradually, the imagery of the forest photographs became denser and denser - a project idea was born.

"With a camera you can document the power of nature," says Markus Bühler. "Every moment is irretrievable. Then there is the silence and inner peace that you feel in the forest. And the waiting for the perfect light - sometimes wild and strong, sometimes gentle and quiet - which sometimes comes without warning."

This illustrated book shows the diversity of our forests: from intricate mixed forests with dead wood and lianas to striking mountain forests with Swiss stone pines and larches. The interplay of the plants creates wonderful backdrops and unique sceneries. A book that opens the senses to the fascination of the forest.
