Publisher Note

“ZILLA” is the second artist book by Zilla Leutenegger and at the same time the documentation of a multitude of projects from the past years. The publication is published on the occasion of the exhibition “ZILLA” at the Bündner Kunstmuseum on the occasion of the MANOR Art Prize Chur 2003.
In an alphabetical register, the large-format publication brings together a wide variety of materials from A to Z and skilfully combines elements from the workbooks with documentary photographs. Working materials such as texts, notes, project sketches, as well as drawings and photographs of realized and planned projects not only reveal the artist's way of working and thinking, but also provide valuable background information for an in-depth study of Leutenegger’s work.
The workbook contains 12 fold-out double pages, each containing documentation sheets of one work with photographs from exhibitions, comments and technical information.
The folding out and folding in of the pages and the jumping back and forth between the materials in the register is very much in keeping with the intention of the publication: From a multitude of documents, collages, drawings and facsimile notes a new work by Zilla Leutenegger is created: a systematically unsystematic reference work from Audi Quattro to Z – La piccola ombra.
