Publisher Note
This monograph was published in occasion of the project grant of the City of Munich which Albert Coers received in 2009 for his project Enciclopedialexandrina; Coers and other artists got their monographs as booklets; the monographs were then bound together and published in a hardcover year book with the title: "Awards and project grants 2008/2009"
ENCYCLOPEDIALEXANDRINA is an expansion of a project for which Coers conducted research in the library of Alexandria, Egypt. The material he found, dealing with the myth of the city, the library, and its name, was transformed into a large-scale, associative image-text installation using copies taken from the library's books. This artwork now links other cities that share nothing but their names: Alessandria/Piedmont, Alexandria/Virginia, Alexandria/Romania ....
