Publisher Note
The fotobus is a cultural, social and academic project serving all students of photography. It is owned and operated by the Fotobus Society, an independent nonprofit foundation that is run by a group of German photography students.
The fotobus society offers free excursions, road trips and research expeditions to national and international destinations. All expenses such as fuel, road toll, repairs, maintenance, insurance, vehicle taxes, food, accommodation etc. are covered by donations, memberships, grants and sponsorships. The fotobus project aims to contribute to humanistic efforts concerned with international peacebuilding, human rights, education and cultural participation. Activities include photo graphic group projects and exhibitions, visits to photo festivals, work shops and conferences as well as international exchange programs with partner universities and institutions.
The yearly publication, published by Kettler offers an insight into the current scene of young European photography. Each publication includes selected projects of the fotobus members, with a cross section of contemporary positions, which are located in the spectrum between documentary and conceptual photography, testing and crossing boundaries. Many of the works have already received international awards and, taken together, form a fascinating insight into the current scene of young European photography.
