Publisher Note
For a long time, the Arab world was perceived and interpreted through the lenses of Western photographers. In order to give access other interpretations, initiated by World Press photo, this books features the work of six 'Arabic' photographers who took part in a training program in the Middle East and North Africa region from 2009 to 2010. The participants worked on photo stories related to the theme of active citizenship. A clever design by Teun van der Heijden makes that the stories are bilingual (English and Arabic) and can be 'read' both ways.
