Bologna’s Lowlands are changing rapidly. During the last twenty years the “Bassa” has experienced apopulation growth never seen before in its long history. During this period the population has doubled and its identity is transforming. The project carried out by the photographer Rhodri Jones hopes to contribute towards debate on the sustainable development of the Lowlands and its emerging new identity. Rhodri Jones was born in Wales in 1963 and has lived in Bologna’s lowlands since 2000. He began working as a professional photographer in 1989 and worked on various projects travelling around the world. He has already published two photography volumes: Made in China (Logos Art, Italy 2002) and Return/Yn ôl (Seren, Wales 2006). He displayed his works in various countries (China, Ireland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, the UK and USA). His works have been used by famous publishers, magazines, newspapers and NGOs all over the world.] Gianni Celati, born in 1937 is one of Italy’s foremost writers. He has published numerous books, almost all translated into many languages. (Beckett, Céline, Joyce, Swift). He has directed several films and travelled throughout Italy with photographers such as Basilico, Chiaromonte, Ghirri and Jodice, offering a new interpretation of the Italian landscape resulting in some of the most important photographic books ever published in Italy. He has lived in England for the last 20 years.

La bassa Bolognese sta cambiando rapidamente. In tutta la sua lunga storia non ha mai visto una crescita demografi ca cosi rapida come in questi ultimi venti anni.

La sua popolazione durante questo periodo è raddoppiata, e la sua identità sta cambiando. Il progetto realizzato dal fotografo Rhodri Jones spera di contribuire al dibattito su uno sviluppo territoriale sostenibile della Bassa da cui dovrebbe emergere anche una sua futura identità.

Gianni Celati, nato nel 1937, è uno dei maggiori narratori italiani viventi. Ha pubblicato numerosi libri, tutti tradotti in molte lingue, ed è anche traduttore di classici (Beckett, Céline, Joyce, Swift). Ha realizzato diversi film ha attraversato l’Italia insieme a fotografi come Basilico,Chiaromonte, Ghirri e Jodice, offrendo una nuova lettura del paesaggio italiano culminato in alcuni libri fotografici fra i più importanti mai pubblicati in Italia. Vive in Inghilterra da vent’anni.
