Publisher Note

Maquinagem ("Machination", in English) builds its visual language through a close observation of urban rhythms, privileging compositions that emphasize the repetition of gestures, the circulation of bodies, and the materiality of spaces in constant transformation. The camera follows a territory shaped by continuous production, where the construction site becomes a model for the city's mode of operation. Between mechanical movements, subtle pauses, and everyday displacements, the images reveal a quiet choreography that articulates labor, time, and wear. The photobook translates this visual logic into the sequence of its pages, exploring different temporalities and modes of reading. Like the film, the publication proposes a view of the city as a system in continuous operation, where permanence and transformation coexist within the same space.
