Books have a time in which they are printed and a time in which we read them. Past and present events determine their content, as do premonitions, wishes and longings for an as yet unknown future.
In 2015, after being a restricted military area for 100 years, the Finnish fortress island of Örö was opened to tourism. In March 2017, before the start of the season, Viennese artist Linda Reif explored the deserted island with her camera, whose appearance has been shaped by its military use since the time of Tsarist Russia on the one hand, and by nature on the other, which is increasingly reclaiming the territory of the deserted defensive post.
Visible decay of the anti-tank obstacles, cannons and bunkers determines the atmosphere of the landscape photographs taken during the stay. At the end of the Nordic winter, the vegetation appears far removed from its blossoming. Thus, the photographs and prints on found cardboard packaging certainly also reflect the feeling of isolation during Reif's Robinson-like exploration of the island between the experience of nature and history.

Bücher haben eine Zeit, in der sie gedruckt werden, und eine, in der wir sie lesen. Ereignisse der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart bestimmen ihren Inhalt wie auch Ahnungen, Wünsche oder Sehnsüchte eine noch unbekannte Zukunft betreffend.
2015 wurde, nachdem sie 100 Jahre lang militärisches Sperrgebiet war, die finnische Festungsinsel Örö für den Tourismus geöffnet. Im März 2017 noch vor Beginn der Saison erkundete die Wiener Künstlerin Linda Reif mit ihrer Kamera das menschenleere Eiland, dessen Erscheinungsbild einerseits durch seine militärische Nutzung seit der Zeit des zaristischen Russlands geprägt worden ist, andererseits durch die Natur, die sich zunehmend das Territorium des verlassenen Verteidigungspostens zurückerobert.
Sichtbarer Verfall der Panzersperren, Geschütze und Bunker bestimmt die Atmosphäre der während des Aufenthalts entstandenen Landschaftsfotografien. Weit weg erscheint am Ende des nordischen Winters die Vegetation von ihrem Erblühen. So spiegelt sich in den Fotografien und Drucken auf gefundenen Pappverpackungen sicherlich auch das Gefühl der Isolation während Reifs robinsonhafter Exploration der Insel zwischen Natur- und Geschichtserfahrung wider.
