For the 20th Anniversary of the Tiergarten Art Association RE:VISION is attempting the seemingly impossible: This publication and exhibition project brings together the names of all 2,193 individuals and institutions who have actively participated in exhibitions and events at Galerie Nord over the past two decades, thereby providing significant aesthetic impulses and initiating and enriching socio-political discourse. RE:VISION celebrates the Tiergarten Art Association as a living organism that connects all participating artists and members, all contributors and partners, all sponsors, staff, and curators. This publication is an archive, a historical document, and a book object all in one, and will be presented in the anniversary exhibition at Galerie Nord as a constantly evolving exhibit and object of exchange. For the book's image section, 520 artists responded to the art association's call to submit reproductions of their artwork. This remarkable diversity, along with the names of all participants, was translated by Studio Karpstein into a coherent graphic concept. In a spatial installation specially developed by the Berlin artist Marten Schech, each open copy of the book becomes the protagonist in a perplexing interplay of overlapping times and spaces. As visitors leaf through the books, the numerous names of the participants appear and disappear temporarily, recombining countless variations of asynchronous moments from the Kunstverein's 20-year history and thus continuously reshaping the installation. During the course of the exhibition, all artists represented in the publication are invited to exchange an exhibited copy of the book for an artwork on loan. Through visitors' leafing through the books and the exchange of original works, the space-book installation will continuously evolve in a participatory and curatorially uncontrollable manner – until, in the end, an exhibition with a completely new appearance emerges.
