Publisher Note
Since 2003, the Tara Ocean Foundation, the first public interest foundation in France dedicated to the Ocean, has been conducting scientific expeditions to study marine biodiversity as well as observe and anticipate the impacts of climate change and pollution.
This book is a retrospective of the artists who have been on board the Tara schooner over the past 20 years. It’s a unique opportunity to shed light on the Ocean, its little-known biodiversity, its role in the climate machine and the pollution that impacts it today, through the prism of art.
The book is organized around five main themes: Pollution, Landscapes, Living beings, Sensitivity and Travel diaries. As a counterpoint to these artistic proposals, elements of scientific enlightenment extend the perception of the works, bringing together the scientific rigor of these marine expeditions with the imagination of the artists.
