Publisher Note

Uno sguardo sugli altri (A Look at Others) highlights the extraordinary contribution of Martine Franck, a leading female figure in the photographic panorama of the last thirty years of the twentieth century.
In addition to paying homage to her most famous shots dedicated to childhood, old age and the theatre, some of which have become true icons, the publication opens a glimpse into entire parts of her production which have so far remained in the shadows, focused on representation of work, feminist movements, or consumer society.
This new synthesis reveals to the general public an artist with a sincere humanist spirit, deeply committed to her time, for whom the camera represented a privileged means of casting her gaze on others.
