Publisher Note
This first catalogue by Daniel Schibli collects and documents works from 1992 to 1999.
The oeuvre of Daniel Schibli is characterized by a curious and critical attitude. As different as the individual works may be, their common denominator is the inquiring search for boundaries and the subsequent examination of their validity. The artist subjects not only his body and his surroundings to a test, but also ingrained ideas and ways of thinking. In addition, he questions the fairy tales and legends from his childhood about their current validity with untiring joy of playing.
Absurdity and irony on the level of content ensure that the viewer is irritated to the extent that he or she opens up to deeper thoughts.
