Publisher Note

The origin of this work goes back to a crush by Michel Mazzoni on the work of Adriaan Verwee. After a first meeting, their common interests naturally gave rise to a visual exchange built like a game of ping-pong without words or sound: a game of associations of shots selected from each person’s personal history. These duos of photographs reveal a deep affinity between two artists who did not know each other. It is therefore disturbing to note that this dialogue seems to build a common sensibility. The artists speak with one voice, with one eye, in search of the same attention to detail. Differentiation is out of the question. The dialogue that follows is therefore to be seen as a way of introducing ourselves to each other. It is a silent language that is built on common interests such as architecture, balance, framing and the questioning of the image. The exchange lasted about two months and also carries with it the desire to extend the exhibition by letting this edition live on as a fragment of it. It is both the echo of a first meeting and the survival of a collaboration: two hands clasped and two glances that cross each other.
