Windows to the Unexpected is the second book in a trilogy that began with the book Remembering the Future, where Albarran Cabrera explores complexities of form and narrative in photography.

Windows to the Unexpected delves into the tension between the visible and the unforeseen, inviting viewers to question what they see and uncover what lies beyond the image.
Inspired by Julio Cortázar’s essay of the same name, this volume examines how the unexpected emerges in images without warning, challenging conventional perceptions of reality. The unexpected is not manufactured but revealed, transforming photography into a space of multiple interpretations, where the extraordinary is hidden within the ordinary.

Albarrán Cabrera are widely recognized for their mastery of platinum, palladium, cyanotype, and gelatin silver processes and have pioneered and developed new techniques in their color prints, incorporating pigments, Japanese paper, and gold leaf.

Angel Albarrán (1969) and Anna Cabrera (1969) have worked collaboratively as art photographers since 1996.
