Everything’s too big.
Renner has collected them: XXL products—French fries, shower gels, family packs, T-shirts labeled XXL although they’re easily XXXL.
The photographs don’t show any people. And yet one can sense those people everywhere: in the price tag, in the sticky floor under the supermarket shelf, in the juice bottle’s plastic handle.
XXL is a visual archive of excess. A mute survey of a world in which “large” is no longer big enough.
Between exaggeration and overstretch, between stocking up and feeling bloated—his camera captures what’s grown too big for any shelf.
There’s too much of it. And that’s the problem right there.
