Publisher Note
The photographic researches of Paola De Pietri, Fabio Mantovani and Allegra Martin explore the paradigms of some recent urban regeneration projects and some housing policies in the city of Bologna.
Moving on three specific but not unconnected trajectories - between "urban archeology", public architecture and anthropology - the publication offers an independent reading of the physical transformations, social changes and relationships between community and space, but above all questions the "city project" carried out in the Emilian capital. A project that is taken up, discussed and questioned again in the "five looks at contemporary living".
Five essays, at the end of the book, which offer a "reading guide" of the photographic investigations and focus on key issues on the contemporary city: the alternating successes of the public discourse on the right to housing and on the housing market; the possible drifts of a certain idea of proximity that has recently re-emerged; the extreme articulation and instability of housing demand; the connections, still little explored but increasingly urgent, between urban planning and housing welfare. Reflections to be treasured also to reconstruct a grammar during - and after - the dramatic phase that the world is experiencing.
